“The craving for colour is a natural necessity just as for water or fire. Colour is the raw material indispensable for life. At every era of his existence and his history, the human being has associated colour with his joys, his actions and his pleasures”. Fernand Léger, On Monumentality and Colour.
In Plain Sight is an exhibition of major new works from The London Group and key works from the THG collection and private loans.
Working in a range of mediums including: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and film, each London Group artist will hide some element within the work to be discovered by the viewer. The diversity of approach of London Group members, one of its strengths, will ensure an exciting array of responses.
Thelma Hulbert exhibited with The London Group in 1938. As her first professional exhibition, this was an important milestone in her career. With key works from the THG collection and loans from a private collection of works by pivotal London Group members: Walter Sickert, Claude Rogers, William Coldstream and Victor Pasmore, the exhibition explores Thelma’s creative friendships, artistic legacy and place within the history of British art.
My sculpture ‘Acis’ showing at the R.A. was made after my show at Pangolin in March 2020.
Pangolin London are delighted to present a solo exhibition of work by influential British sculptor Jeff Lowe. The show will feature a brand-new series of Lowe’s large and small scale sculptures, prints and jewellery, which mark an exciting shift in his usual aesthetic through a change in technique, material and sensuous colour.
This year the Winter Group Show is not only our biggest show of the annual programme, however also marks five years since Linden Hall Studio first opened its doors. In many ways this show is a celebration of what we have been striving for since that primary show, a collection of engaging, insightful and intriguing painting, photography, print and sculpture featuring some established names who have graced the gallery before yet also some new works and styles perhaps offering a flavour of what’s to come.
